Disneyland may be temporarily closed due to COVID-19, but that isn’t stopping a Latter-day Saint family in Monroe, Utah, from enjoying the iconic Disneyland rides.
According to BuzzFeed, the Thornock family travels to Disneyland once or twice each year. All it took was a little creativity for the family to recreate the classic Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion rides at home during this time of social distancing.
"We just went off our memory of the ride and did the best with what we had," mom Julie Thornock told BuzzFeed, noting that it only took about 45 minutes to film the clip and another 45 minutes for her daughter to edit it on her phone.
The video of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride was published on Facebook on Friday, March 20. As of March 23, the video had over 4 million views and more than 63,000 comments.
Scenes of the recreated Pirates of the Caribbean ride include two passengers boarding a boat, which "floats" past a man in a rocking chair playing a banjo. The boat then heads down the “big drop” before passing through Dead Man’s Cove.
The Thornock family also recreated the Haunted Mansion ride with a special appearance from the hitchhiking ghosts.
