In a new video shared on social media, President Jeffrey R. Holland bore witness to the “one thing” that gave him the commanding, strong, and influential faith he is well known for:

“More than any other one thing, the Book of Mormon gave me my faith, gave me my conviction. … It was the Book of Mormon that bore witness to my very soul—that electrified me in every cell of my body—that this was the word of God. That prophets had died as well as lived to put this into my hands. And that it would do more as a book than any other book that had ever been written. And I testify with no reservation, and no compromise, and not a shadow of retreat from [my] testimony that the Book of Mormon is true.”

His powerful witness of the Book of Mormon came from an address he gave to members of the Church in Riverside, California last weekend where he also said, “How grateful I am for their testimonies of this same truth. Wherever I go, your faith strengthens me.”

In a now landmark conference talk from 2009, President Holland also shared his commanding testimony of the Book of Mormon and encouraged all people to read it, study it, and gain their own testimony of its truthfulness, declaring:

“God always provides safety for the soul, and with the Book of Mormon, He has again done that in our time. Remember this declaration by Jesus Himself: ‘Whoso treasureth up my word, shall not be deceived’—and in the last days neither your heart nor your faith will fail you.”

Witness for His Names

In this beautiful book, President Holland shares his notes and insights about the many names of Christ he has studied in his 25+ years as an Apostle. He promises that "as we study these titles to learn more about who He was and is, we will find ourselves learning more about who we are and what we may become." In doing so, we will gain a greater understanding of our covenants and how each of us can more fully bear witness of Christ's holy name.
