The invitation in the Doctrine and Covenants to “doubt not, fear not” can sometimes be easier said than done.

So on the days you find it hard to extinguish your fears, here are seven recent quotes from our living prophet and apostles on overcoming fear and how we can do it.

“Our Father knows that when we are surrounded by uncertainty and fear, what will help us the very most is to hear His Son. Because when we seek to hear—truly hear—His Son, we will be guided to know what to do in any circumstance.” —President Russell M. Nelson

“No dark dart of fear stands a chance when you are protected with the Lord’s brilliant armor.” —Elder Gary E. Stevenson

“Godly fear is loving and trusting in Him. As we fear God more completely, we love Him more perfectly. And ‘perfect love casteth out all fear.’ I promise the bright light of godly fear will chase away the dark shadows of mortal fears.” —Elder David A. Bednar

“When we choose to follow Christ in faith rather than choosing another path out of fear, we are blessed with a consequence that is consistent with our choice.” —Elder Quentin L. Cook

“In a world that so desperately needs all the light it can get, please do not minimize the eternal light God put in your soul before this world was.” —President Jeffrey R. Holland

“We yearn for you to overcome the confusion, shame, and fear, and we long for you, through Jesus Christ, to conquer.” —Elder Patrick Kearon

“He knows of your wants, your needs, and your fears. The Lord is all powerful. Trust Him.” —President Dallin H. Oaks
