There's more to Halloween than costumes and candy. In fact, here are some touching insights from Mercy River's Whitney Permann about what Halloween teaches us about motherhood.
On Halloween night, it's usually my job to stay home and hand out candy while my husband takes the kids trick-or-treating. I love this for many reasons, but perhaps my favorite is that I get to see YOU through your children. From their head to their toes, each dressed-up child is oozing evidence of a mother's love—whether it’s offered from a mom, grandmother, or auntie.
First, there's the child with the beautifully handmade costume. I see the thoughtful touches put into each careful detail. The hand sewn Alice skirt, the milk-jug Storm Trooper helmet, and the amazing sour cream dollop hat on the kid who requested to be a taco.
