In a powerful new video by the Church News, President Jeffrey R. Holland of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles speaks about the refining power we can gain in persevering through challenges.

“We believe that we are gods in embryo,” President Holland states. “But how does that happen?”

His answer: “We get to practice.”

“If you want patience,” he continues, “well, hold on, because the Lord is going to give you a dozen things to be patient about."

He explains that, if we really want to grow, we will be given experiences that will stretch us. Everything we go through is an opportunity to gain mastery over ourselves.

“The sun always comes up,” President Holland says. “The victory is at the end of the journey. That is the way it was for Christ. That is the way it is for us.”
