In the first of the season three Book of Mormon videos, King Benjamin preaches to his people for a final time before declaring his son Mosiah as the new king.
During his sermon, King Benjamin tells the people that an angel of God appeared to him. The angel told King Benjamin that the Son of God would come to the earth and that “He would perform miracles and redeem His people,” according to the YouTube description.
“I would that you should consider on the blessed and happy state of those that keep the commandments of God," King Benjamin says in the video. "For behold, they are blessed in all things, both temporal and spiritual; and if they hold out faithful to the end they are received into heaven, that thereby they may dwell with God in a state of never-ending happiness" (Mosiah 2:41).
The scene takes place in 124 BC and depicts the people gathering in tents near the temple in Zarahemla to hear the prophet speak. Those who are too far away to hear King Benjamin receive the sermon through scribes, who write down the prophet's words, and messengers, who distribute the parchment to the people in smaller groups. As the people believe King Benjamin’s words, they ask God for forgiveness from their sins and make covenants with Jesus Christ.
King Benjamin encourages the people to remember how they feel, to believe in God and His Son Jesus Christ, and to care for the poor and the needy. The video is based on Mosiah 1–5.
