Latter-day Saint Andy Reid is the head coach for the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs. The team will be playing in their third consecutive Super Bowl this weekend. In recent press coverage for the big game, Reid was asked what his favorite book trilogy is. His response will make you smile.
“How about the Bible, The Book of Mormon, Pearl of Great Price? I like ‘em all,” Reid said, smiling.
This isn’t the first time an aspect of Reid’s faith has come up in sports interviews. For example, in 2023, the head coach was asked how he takes his coffee.
“You know, I don’t drink coffee,” he replied. “I’m not a coffee drinker. … I just get up and go. I got endless energy for a chubby guy.”
An Interview That Focused on Reid’s Faith
In 2024, Reid was interviewed on the LDS Living podcast All In. He said that “really everything” about his approach to coaching is influenced by his faith and that he tries to set a good example for the team.
“I try to lead by example there. And so, … guys will watch their language around me. I’m hard on them about the music ’cause, you know, the music can be a little rough there. So, if you want to listen to it, you’re a grown man, put a headset on and listen to it with your headphones. … If you’re going to play it and for the team, play stuff that there’s no profanity in,” he says.

A Baby Blessing Before the Super Bowl
Reid has also said that he and his wife are “never missing sacrament one way or another.” And before the Super Bowl in 2023, Reid participated in blessing the baby of assistant running backs coach Porter Ellett, who is also a Latter-day Saint. The Kansas City Chiefs went on to win the championship later that day.
