Editor’s note: Our intention in sharing Brother Ulloa’s recovery story is to provide uplift and hope for all. We continue to pray and support those currently suffering from the virus and its effects.

Living through a pandemic is something many of us will remember for the rest of our lives, but for Justiniano Anibal Ulloa, this will be the second time he’s lived through a pandemic—and this time he also recovered from the virus.

Church Newsroom Canada shared Ulloa’s story and his miraculous recovery. In early April,  Ulloa began to exhibit the characteristics of the viral infection: failing lungs and a serious cough. On April 4, Ulloa was taken to the hospital and tested positive for COVID-19.

Unexpected to survive, Ulloa’s family received permission to bring him home from the hospital, where Ulloa’s son Marcelo gave him a priesthood blessing. Both family and friends fasted and prayed for Ulloa’s recovery.

Despite all odds, Ulloa at 101 years-old began to recover on Good Friday, April 10. Marcelo spoke to Church Newsroom Canada about his father’s miraculous recovery.

“Dad’s family doctor was surprised [Dad] was still alive and not requiring oxygen,” he said. "It’s nothing short of the power of God keeping him going in a miraculous way.”

Marcelo continued, “[This experience] is definitely one way that Heavenly Father is showing His great power and mercy by answering our collective prayers.”
