In a prerecorded message released on January 5 for Church youth, Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf shared two things he always keeps in his pocket: his temple recommend and the “For the Strength of Youth” guide.

The youth theme for 2025 is “Look unto Christ,” and Elder Uchdorf explained why these two objects can help us do just that.

First, he encouraged us to cherish our recommends and go to the temple as often as possible. But he also reminded us that going to the temple is about more than just going—it’s important that we learn why we go.

“There you connect with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ by making covenants and by helping others to receive the same blessings,” he said. “As you serve in the temple, you can feel that you are an eternal being with an eternal purpose.”

Second, he explained that the “For the Strength of Youth” guide can help us look to Jesus Christ as we make important decisions and seek guidance in a complex world.

“Have courage. You have Jesus Christ on your side,” Elder Uchtdorf said. “He will help you see your life from an elevated perspective. He will help you to know who you are and to believe that there is a glorious future ahead of you.”
