Over four decades ago, President Spencer W. Kimball’s prophetically declared, “I believe that the Lord is anxious to put into our hands inventions of which we laymen have hardly had a glimpse.” One of these inventions may be the Scripture Citation Index.
Created by Richard C. Galbraith and released digitally in 2010, the Scripture Citation Index conveniently links scriptures in the Church’s standard works to specific citations in general conference talks and other writings. The goal? “What we’re trying to do is share this with a significant population of the Church, free of charge, to study and understand better the gospel,” Galbraith told Church News.

The Scripture Citation Index is meant to deepen scripture study and can be an invaluable asset when studying Come, Follow Me. By looking up a verse, one can quickly and easily find all the relevant conference talks that reference the scripture. This method of application can provide valuable insights, prophetic explanations, and key applications.
Another way to use the database is to search a particular word or phrase. In so doing, users can pinpoint a scripture even if they only remember a few words. A search will also show all the instances a particular word or phrase is used in scripture and general conference talks.
