The Nashville Tribute Band is known for their touching country tributes to the gospel, including albums about Joseph Smith, the Bible, and the Latter-day Saint pioneers. Their newest album thoughtfully follows suit.
Titled Witness, the collection of songs is a tribute to the Book of Mormon. The music video for one track, “I Am a Book,” was just released, and its lyrics take listeners on an especially unique journey through the Book of Mormon.
Unlike many of the other songs on the album which are narrated by prophets, kings, or heroes, “I Am a Book” features perspectives from a series of inanimate objects, such as the sea that Nephi’s boat sailed upon, a river that ran through a gruesome battle, and a pile of rocks that was once an altar.
The music video shows the band members, as well as guest Rylie Davis, singing individually about each item. The result is a vivid listening experience that immerses listeners in the scenery of the Book of Mormon, inviting them to imagine the springs, hills, and sands where it all took place.
Founding band member Dan Truman tells LDS Living, “I think today we have an even bigger need for a ‘second witness of Jesus Christ.’ And, for me, there is no witness as powerful or as encompassing or even as surprising as the Book of Mormon.”
