See the Holy Land. Index 1,000 names. Do 100 percent home teaching or visiting teaching. Many Saints have gospel-related goals. So, what's on your Mormon bucket list?
When I was in college, I had the opportunity to spend a semester in the Holy Land. I scrimped and saved for two years because it was #1 on my bucket list—the must-do-before-I-die experience.
As we at LDS Living were discussing some of the items on each of our bucket lists, we realized that many were LDS specific, so we thought it would be fun to create a "Mormon bucket list." Here are some of the things we came up with:
- Index 1,000 names
- Trace your family history at least 10 generations
- Do all the ordinances for a name you found yourself
- Go on a Church history tour
- Visit all the temples in a geographic region, such as your state, country, or continent
- Read the standard works all the way through
- Serve a senior mission
- Visit Temple Square
- Attend a session of general conference
- Read the Gospel Doctrine and Priesthood/Relief Society lessons every week for a year
- Attend a Mormon Tabernacle Choir performance
- See one of the original 100 copies of the Book of Mormon printed by E.B. Grandin
- Have 100% visiting teaching or home teaching for an entire year
- Invite an investigator to you home for dinner with the missionaries
- Visit some of these wonders of the Mormon World(click here for even more!)
Get the idea? And while it's great to have a few pie-in-the-sky goals, I also recommend including some simpler items like finally getting around to performing an act of service for that neighbor down the street. If you need some motivation, gather some friends and have a bucket list party.
