It was a much-anticipated event for Mormons on the East Coast, especially those living in the tri-state area. But fearful of causing disruptions in their Logan Circle neighborhood, officials of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints kept the date quiet. They anticipated up to a thousand church members filling the streets around 17th and Vine Streets to get a look at a milestone event in the construction of their new temple.
So just as 2015 was coming to an end, on Dec. 30 workers lifted a 10-foot gold-leafed statue of the Angel Moroni atop the highest steeple of the under-construction Philadelphia Pennsylvania Temple.
