In case you haven't already heard, today is Back to the Future Day. That's because today, October 21, 2015, is the date listed on the time traveling Delorean that Marty McFly takes into the future in the second film.

So, in honor of this exciting moment when we all get to reminisce about the past success Back to the Future in the present, we wanted to tell you about the Mormon connection to this iconic film.

Christopher Lloyd, the actor who played the loveable Doctor Emmett Brown or Doc," recently joined the cast of a BYUtv time period drama called Granite Flats.

Set in a small Colorado town during the 1960s, this TV series follows a group of friends as they find themselves caught in the middle of a collision between secret agents from the KGB and the FBI.

The first episode of this exciting Cold War drama aired on April 7, 2013, and the series quickly gained notoriety, getting picked up by Netflix in April of this year and attracting the talent of big Hollywood stars like Christopher Lloyd, Cary Elwes (The Princess Bride), and Parker Posey (You've Got Mail).

Christopher Lloyd joined the cast for the show's second season, appearing as a new English teacher who has a way of bringing Hamlet to life. The third and final season of Granite Flats premiered this October. For more on what it is like being an actor in Granite Flats, click here.
