You may recognize Elizabeth Tabish from her performance as Mary Magdalene in “The Chosen” series. Her portrayal is one of depth and care, but viewers may be surprised to learn that Elizabeth’s feelings concerning religion haven’t always been positive. In fact, when she first accepted the role of Mary, her view of churches and their members was somewhat tainted.
But “The Chosen” changed that.
“It has changed my understanding of the gospel,” Elizabeth said, according to the Deseret News. She’s been reminded what the message of Jesus Christ is really about. And her character’s transformation encapsulates that message.
“I know that feeling,” she said. “Being somewhere so tragic and despairing, and to be completely changed and transformed into a place of real hope and love.”
Mary’s relatable story of redemption and strength is one that Elizabeth hopes will resonate with women who watch the show.
Elizabeth says she is “so grateful” to be a part of “The Chosen.” Read more about her experience at Deseret News.
