The Mormon Tabernacle Choir asked last week for fans to record themselvessinging Handel's "Hallelujah" chorus and upload it to YouTube to help with an exciting project: creating the world’s largest virtual Hallelujah choir. These performances will be released in an Easter video on March 13 with the campaign "Follow Him."
The culmination of all of these events will end with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir's live performance of Handel's "Messiah" on March 24 and 25. Using a live stream, people from all over the world and from various church groups can join their voices with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir as they sing Handel's "Messiah."Tickets will be distributed on Tuesday, February 23, 2016, at 7:00 p.m. through lds.org/events. Or, you can view the concert on an online live stream on Good Friday, March 25, at 7:30 p.m.
Following the success of their 2014 concert, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square will once again join forces to present Handel’s beloved oratorio "Messiah" in its entirety this Easter. The concerts will be held on Thursday, March 24, and Good Friday, March 25, at 7:30 p.m. in the Tabernacle on Temple Square in Salt Lake City. The concert will be conducted by Mack Wilberg, music director of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
Wilberg said as he worked on the score, in the back of his mind was the question “What would Handel have done if he had had ensembles as large as the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square?”
