Words of the General Authorities:Obedience opens the door to the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost. And the spiritual gifts and abilities activated by the power of the Holy Ghost enable us to avoid deception—and to see, to feel, to know, to understand, and to remember things as they really are. You and I have been endowed with a greater capacity for obedience precisely for these reasons. (David A. Bednar, “Things as They Really Are”, Church Educational System fireside address delivered at Brigham Young University–Idaho, May 3, 2009)
Life has its share of fears and failures. Sometimes things fall short. Sometimes people fail us, or economies or businesses or governments fail us. But one thing in time or eternity does not fail us—the pure love of Christ. (Jeffrey R. Holland, Christ and the New Covenant: The Messianic Message of the Book of Mormon, 337)
