Sponsored: ‘The Sandlot’ 30th Anniversary—Coming March 18th to The University of Utah

It’s been 30 years since The Sandlot was filmed in Utah, starring a cast of young actors who were only moderately skilled in baseball. The entire film was shot in locations around Salt Lake City and Ogden, and on March 18, this beloved, classic baseball movie will celebrate its 30th anniversary with original cast members at the University of Utah’s Kingsbury Hall.

“To me, there’s no competition. Hands down, The Sandlot is the best movie of all time. Growing up, I had a VCR copy … and I watched it until I broke it …. To this day, I still answer The Sandlot when asked what my favorite movie is,” says writer Margo Hellman.

Who wouldn’t agree? This baseball film has won the hearts of millions with memorable lines like:

“You’re killing me, Smalls!”
“You swing like a girl.”
“Why’d you bring that kid?", “Because he makes nine of us." “Yeah yeah, so does my sister, but I didn’t bring her along!"
And the most famous: “Remember kid, there’s heroes and there’s legends. Heroes get remembered but legends never die; follow your heart kid, and you’ll never go wrong” –Babe

Scenes like the swimming pool with “Squints” and Wendy Peppercorn, the dog chase through the picnic in the park, and the hilarious and wonderful interactions between all the kids made this movie an instant classic for generations.

So what happened behind the scenes and what stories do the actors who played the kids have to share with us?
