The Come, Follow Me program has given families and individuals a great framework for studying the gospel in weekly increments. BYUradio has followed suit with the weekly show This is Sunday, a daylong mix of inspiring, worshipful music interspersed with spiritually enriching programs designed to help families and individuals get more out of their Come, Follow Me study.

A key program in the This is Sunday lineup is The Good Word, a series of five short segments that rotate throughout the day at the top and bottom of every hour. Each segment is just four or five minutes long, beginning with a story or example that is relevant to today’s audience which is then tied into the weekly Come, Follow Me curriculum.

The Good Word is also a great resource for teachers. Episodes related to upcoming lessons are available in advance on byuradio.org and all major podcast platforms to give teachers time to prepare. “It’s like having one more person to help you brainstorm on what you’re thinking and what you’re preparing with Come, Follow Me,” says host Steven Kapp Perry. “We’ll have people call in and say, ‘I was trying to teach this certain concept to my class of 16- and 17-year-olds, and you gave me this perfect example. Thank you for having it there before the day of the lesson.’”

Although the show follows the Come, Follow Me curriculum, BYUradio Station Manager Dain Craig believes that it has wide appeal beyond Latter-day Saints. “We try to reach a very broad, believing audience. Our approach is to make this as universal as possible for all walks of life and all religions.”

Another highlight of the This Is Sunday lineup that can enhance your personal study is In Good Faith, a show dedicated to stories and accounts from believers, told in their own words. Also hosted by Steven Kapp Perry, episodes feature conversations with people from all walks of faith— from Catholic to Buddhist to Latter-day Saint—sharing their personal experience with the sacred and the divine. Most episodes feature religious leaders, but a notable recent episode featured the Broadway and television star Kristin Chenoweth talking about how she shares her Christian faith through her music.

In Good Faith airs Sundays at 9:00 am MT, and it is followed by the live broadcast of Music and The Spoken Word at 9:30 am.

In between these programs BYUradio plays a combination of inspirational music, which includes The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square, instrumental pieces, and select Christian artists. Steven Kapp Perry says the music selections help families “set a mood, almost like lighting a candle, except it’s music. You get up in the morning and something feels different about our house today. It’s Sunday. And that’s what This Is Sunday is there for.” Mixed in with the music are brief excerpts of timeless General Conference talks and other inspirational thoughts.

You can find these Come, Follow Me resources and listen to This Is Sunday and all of BYUradio’s other daily shows on the BYUradio app, at byuradio.org, on your favorite podcast app, on SiriusXM 143 nationally, and at 107.9 FM in northern Utah.
