Growing up, I remember hearing stories about how my great-grandmother sang in what is now The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square. Even though I’ve never sung in the choir myself, I love feeling a special connection to this well-known and beautiful group.

For some people, participating in the choir has become somewhat of a family legacy, as a recent post on The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square Facebook page highlighted.

Choir soprano Jenna Barson’s mother retired from the choir one week before Jenna debuted in her first broadcast, putting Jenna in the unique position to inherit her mother’s choir dresses. She also inherited the unique ribbons tied around the dresses’ hangers used to help choir members quickly identify their wardrobes.

“[My mom] gave me her dresses … that I get to wear every week on the broadcast, and these are her ribbons, so I can’t really part with [them],” Jenna shared in a video. Many people on social media commented on the Barsons’ unique mother-daughter legacy with the choir, with one person writing, “That’s so special, we love and appreciate our Choir.”
