In a video on social media, President Jeffrey R. Holland recently shared three of his favorite titles for Jesus Christ.

“Christ is everything to us,” President Holland shared. “He is the beginning and the middle and the end. He is the top and the bottom. … The first and last letters of the Greek New Testament in which the New Testament was recorded.

“I love that consuming, comprehensive, fulfilling, declaration that Christ means everything to me. He’s the beginning and the end of everything I hold dear. Everything!”

A second favorite name of Christ that President Holland shared is “the bright and morning star.”

“The bright and morning star is technically the last star you see before dawn, the last star in the heavens of the night leading into the dawn,” he explained. “And I love that image of light in our life always. He is the light in our life, He is the light of the world. …

“Night or day, He’s the leading light that enlightens everything that matters, everything I need, everything I’m supposed to have.”

The last of Christ’s titles that President Holland highlighted is that of “witness.”

“We often don’t think of Him so much of a witness but that we’re supposed to be witnesses,” President Holland shared. “Well, before that, He was a witness. He says in the scripture, ‘For this purpose came I into the world, and for this cause was I born.’ He came to stand as a declaration before, during, and after His life, and [He will stand as a witness] before, during, and after ours.”

President Holland concluded with a powerful request for each of us to be witnesses of Christ—our Alpha and Omega, our bright and morning star, and the heavenly light that grants life and by which we can see all our heavenly potential.

“Whatever our ages, whatever our circumstances, whatever our callings, we are His witnesses. … We need to witness with our very lives. We need to live the way we believe. We need to be a witness to everything the Savior taught.”
