Police in Portland, Oregon, are searching for a missing hiker, Annie Schmidt, daughter of the famous LDS musician Jon Schmidt of The Piano Guys.
The 21-year-old's car was found Thursday in the Columbia River Gorge near Bonneville Dam, according to the family.
Her mother, Michelle Schmidt, says, "She is most likely lost in the mountains and it is a search and rescue issue."
On Facebook, the Schmidt family posted that Annie has been missing since Sunday. That was the last day her father and roommate heard from her and the last day she posted to Snapchat.
According to police, Annie recently purchased a backpack and tent and they are concerned she may be lost or injured.
The Schmidt family posted: "We are asking if you can help with any of the following: If you saw Annie's last Snapchat on Sunday did you recognize any landmarks? Did she say anything to you about where she was planning to go? . . . Please pray that she can be found."
After flying into Portland to help look for his daughter, Jon Schmidt told KATU News, "She's so adventurous. She loves Portland so much. She's a little Salt Lake girl and she was in heaven up here."
Then he continued, thanking those involved in the search for their help. "I cannot express enough gratitude to the volunteers and to the search and rescue, the sheriffs, and the police. It's incredible."
In the latest update, Michelle said that search and rescue teams Friday morning will search areas near where Annie's car was found. She adds, "Thanks so much to everyone for your support and faith."
We are praying for the Schmidt family and hope Annie will be found safe.
