In a one-minute video released on Facebook today, Young Women General President Bonnie L. Oscarson addresses the need for Saints to be accepting of those who "may find themselves away from the fold because of personal choices."
Before judging prematurely, she reminds, "Each of us is in a different place in our spiritual journey. Some may struggle with testimony. Some have questions or wrestle with the pressures and trials of life." Regardless of where we are in our lives, as disciples of Christ, we are to remember that "those who are struggling for whatever reason should be able to find within our sisterhood a spirit of warmth, inclusion, and love."
Her message concludes with the reminder that, without condoning poor choices, we can be like the Savior and reach out with compassion to the one who has left the ninety and nine. In this day of confusion and questioning, she says, "we can demonstrate that compassion by ensuring that our communications with one another are respectful and kind."
