Many Latter-day Saints will forever remember the moment a children’s choir sang “Gethsemane” in the October 2024 general conference. In particular, the lines sung a cappella touched viewers around the world.
“When the organ stopped, [the line] ‘the fight was won by Jesus’ was unbelievably powerful. I had tears running down my face!” Lesley Hunt wrote on Instagram at the time.
The song’s video has over 1.3 million views on YouTube and was shared over 32 thousand times on Instagram.
A New Video for Easter
Just in time for Easter, The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square released a new music video for “Gethsemane” with the children’s choir.
The new video combines the sweet tones of the young choir with the resonant voices of The Tabernacle Choir. A full orchestra accompanies the singers, and the Conference Center stage is adorned with flowers and stained-glass-inspired accents.
In a behind-the-scenes video, Andrew King, a child from the choir, tearfully testifies:
“Jesus Christ knows how you feel, and He took the time to feel your pain and not just everybody else’s. And He’s gone through personally what you have, and that’s so important because sometimes it feels like people don’t understand, but somebody took the time to suffer for you. I hope that people know that Jesus is always there for them. And that no matter what’s happening, you can rely on Him, and I hope that they can feel that testimony when we sing that song.”
