It's not uncommon to see missionaries for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints walking down the street, traveling in pairs and wearing white shirts and dark slacks for the men, skirts and dresses for the women — regardless of the temperature.
For a long time, missionaries' apparel rarely included bold colors or patterns since guidelines for LDS missionaries clearly delineated a need for conservative styles, including dark suits for men and subdued solid colors for women.
New guidelines released in 2013 changed some of that, bringing a breath of fresh air — and a wave of new options — to the LDS men and women who have chosen to serve missions.
