Despite numerous health challenges over the years, Elder Robert D. Hales has done much for the Church through his calling as an apostle. And to honor his sacrifices, Elder Hales was awarded the President's Award as a "Pioneer of Progress" by the Days of '47 committee.
Elder Robert D. Hales still keeps a regular schedule at the LDS church office building.
“I take every day at its moment,” said the 84-year-old apostle, “and one day at a time.”
But those days aren’t always easy for Hales, who is fourth in line for the presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
“I’m on a limited scale,” said Hales. “I work about half a day.”
