Earlier this year, explorers of Church history rejoiced at the release of Saints, Vol. 2: No Unhallowed Hand, 1846-1893. This new history of the Church “illuminate aspects of Church history that have been lesser known or misunderstood.”
One podcast, aptly named Saints, is providing even more illumination by diving deeper into each chapter of the history. According to Church News, cohosts Shalyn Back and Ben Godfrey have produced 30-minute segments for each of the 35 chapters in Saints, Vol. 1, and 46 episodes for each chapter in Saints, Vol. 2. Back is a former social media and email marketing team manager for the Church, and Godfrey is currently a product manager in the Church History Department.
“Hosting the Saints podcast has been a joy for me. … Seeing how the Restoration unfolded, and continues to unfold, gives me hope that the Lord has a place in his plan for everyone, even for someone like me,” Godfrey told Church News.
The podcast explores sensitive issues like the Mountains Meadows Massacre, the Kirtland financial crisis, and tensions with the United States government in the late 19th century. Historical experts are brought on the show to answer questions and shed new light on the topics.
The Saints podcast can be found on many podcast-distributing platforms, including theLatter-day Saints Channel.
