Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have known that a new Children and Youth program was coming, but there remained a lot of unknowns, many of which were answered during the Face to Face event on Sunday.
Among the many changes that were announced, we learned that Activity Days are out and Primary activities for both girls and boys are in, while campouts for both Young Men and Young Women are here to stay. For the Strength of Youth Conferences (five-day experiences that have already proven to be a success internationally) will now be instituted worldwide. A Gospel Living app, which will be available for download in January, will allow youth to track goals, view upcoming activities, and access Church media.
Viewers were also introduced to the recognition aspects of the new program, which begin with receiving a green CTR ring at age 4 and continue with the potential of receiving a Christus in a crystal arch shortly before a young woman or young man completes their time in Aaronic Priesthood quorums or Young Women. Still, Elder Gong emphasized, “Please remember, personal gospel growth is not a set of requirements that you check off. Setting righteous personal goals and establishing disciplined and inspired patterns will bless your whole life.”
A new Aaronic priesthood quorum theme was also introduced. Read the theme and learn more about all aspects of the new Children and Youth program on the Church News.
