In case you haven't heard the exciting news, the prophet and apostles are now using Instagram to share Christ's lightand reach members of the Church in new ways.
This week we've been sharing inspiring stories and insights from the apostles' Instagram pages. During the summer, Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf shared a priceless picture of a youth campout he went on as a young boy. Despite the difficult political circumstances Elder Uchtdorf experienced as a young boy in Germany, he shares how he found peace and joy in our Savior:
"A few weeks ago, a dear friend gave me this photo from my childhood that I had never seen before. It is of a Church youth campout in 1948 in Grunewald (a city forest in Berlin, Germany). I am the smallest boy in this photo, in the very front. "I have very distinct memories of this trip. I can still remember the smell of this tent and the forest we camped in! I was only eight years old, but I was invited to go with the older kids on this campout. I remember being very scared to be away from home. But it was a very happy time with many activities—I even remember trying my first banana here! "Thinking back, it is amazing to me how the Church back then still did everything possible, even under the difficult circumstances of Germany being split, to have activities for young people. We felt unity from the gospel and from our friendships in the Church. We found joy and peace amidst great political and economic challenges in Germany. "It is the same for us today. Even during the most difficult times of life, we can find ways to be happy. We can find ways to lift up others. We can always find joy and happiness in the grace of God and in the love of Jesus Christ. If we do our best with what we have been given, look for happiness and joy around us, keep the commandments, and trust God, all will eventually work out."
