On Valentine’s Day, Elder Jeffrey R. Holland and three other Church leaders spoke in a question-and-answer devotional to young adults. Church News shared that many of the questions were focused on dating and marriage. In response to those questions, Elder Holland said to make marriage a high priority, but to let “your Father in Heaven lead you to the right partner at the right time in your life.” The Apostle added that the timing will be different for everyone, and that one shouldn’t be afraid to marry during tumultuous times.

“Don’t take counsel from your fears about courtship and marriage. Take counsel from your faith, and from the spiritual impulses you have, the good feelings you enjoy when you’re dating and associating with each other. Those are the things to trust,” he said.

Joining Elder Holland were Elder Ruben V. Alliaud, Second Counselor in the North America Southwest Area, Sister Michelle Craig, First Counselor in the Young Women General Presidency, and Bishop L. Todd Budge, Second Counselor in the Presiding Bishopric. Other topics covered in the devotional included advice for those in the LGBT community who may feel like they don’t belong at Church and being true to the gospel despite opposition.

“I just testify that God is a God of love, that He loves each of you and He has a plan for each of you,” said Bishop Budge. He added that we must determine what the Lord desires of us and do what He asks. “And if we do that, we will develop this relationship with God and with His Son Jesus Christ that gives us the strength to do whatever it is that we need to do and overcome whatever we need to overcome,” he said.
