This month, Elder Robert D. Hales posted a very interesting anecdote to his Facebook page. In it, he told about a priesthood leader and a teacher who said to him, “If you want my counsel, be prepared to take it.”
Though humbling, Elder Hales took this counsel to heart, and, in likewise manner, he advises all of us to continue striving to be better and learning from others so when the time comes we can be prepared to make needed changes, even painful ones. "If you want more than you now have, reach up, not across," he says.

In a similar vein, President Henry B. Eyring told about how he knows from experience that fathers, mothers, and leaders can change forever the lives of young Latter-day Saints. As a young priesthood holder, President Eyring's father came to him asking him to look over a paper he was asked to write for the Quorum of the Twelve.
