Elder Cook Shares the Powerful Message from Hymn #1 All Latter-day Saints Should Know

As we sing the hymns each Sunday and at other Church-related activities and meetings, it's important to remember the messages of hope and faith in the lyrics of the songs.

In fact, as Elder Quentin L. Cook recently shared in a Facebook post, the #1 hymn in the LDS hymn book contains a powerful message all Latter-day Saints should know.

I love our hymn “The Morning Breaks.” It is considered the premier hymn of the reestablishment of the gospel of Jesus Christ on the earth and contains a bold declaration of the restored gospel written by Elder Parley P. Pratt in 1840. It is hymn number one in our current hymnal and has been number one in previous hymnals. Consider the words of the first verse:
The morning breaks, the shadows flee; Lo, Zion’s standard is unfurled! The dawning of a brighter day, The dawning of a brighter day Majestic rises on the world.
You are part of the dawning of a brighter day. Zion’s light is truly bursting forth to bring her ransomed children home. We are blessed to serve the Lord in these latter days. Let us live so that the light of this brighter day shines from us.
