What Elder Andersen told a little boy after giving him a priesthood blessing will melt your heart

It’s not every day you get to have one of the Savior’s Apostles in your home—let alone receive a priesthood blessing from him, too.

When young Harvey Jimenez was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, one of his parents had to give up their full-time job to be able to care for him. But his father, Bishop Edvard Jimenez, credits their ability to still provide for their family’s needs—and pay for all Harvey’s medications—to their faithfulness in paying their tithing over the years. And now that faithfulness has brought an Apostle of the Lord into their home, as well, and a special priesthood blessing for Harvey.

As part of his nine-day ministry in the Philippines, Elder Neil L. Andersen and his wife Kathy visited the Jimenez family in their home and chatted with them about the gospel, their lives, and their family’s circumstances. During their visit, Harvey’s father asked if Elder Andersen would give his son a blessing. Elder Andersen happily agreed. You can watch a video from their visit in the player below.

“You're a good man,” Elder Andersen told Harvey, as he gave him a heartfelt hug. “And I hope on occasion maybe write me a little note through an email with your father and tell me how you’re doing, OK? And I’ll write you back. I love you very much. Thank you for letting us get to know you.”

On the video, a Facebook user, Jonatha Cuyan, wrote, “Thank you, Bishop, for your good example and for being a true and humble disciple of Jesus Christ ... I do appreciate your faithfulness to God, to service Him despite [the] challenging circumstances that you and your family are facing right now. You never give up and thank for your goodness. Thank you, too, Elder Andersen for showing us how to minister to our fellow members and to all mankind ... God bless.”

Leisha Adams commented, “That was beautiful. Great example of ministering to ‘the one’ like our Savior did.”

And Kit Chase shared, “This was so beautiful to see. They all are such humble, wise, and sweet examples of disciples of Christ; I want to be a better follower of Christ. Thank you so much for sharing this with us!”
