While picking his son up from serving a mission in Italy, Donny Osmond and his family had the unique opportunity of seeing the newly complete Rome Italy Temple.
"If you'll be in the #Rome area soon, be sure to check out the free public open house for the new Rome Italy Temple of the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Debbie, Josh and I had the privilege of visiting the brand new temple last month. The craftsmanship of this beautiful building is unmatched, and the interior is stunning. If you've ever wanted to see the inside of a Latter-day Saint temple, this is a perfect opportunity. We consider temples "The House of the Lord" and a point of intersection between heaven and earth. There is a very special feeling there."
On his social media pages, Donny included links to the "My Beliefs" section of his website, where he explains Latter-day Saint temples—their purpose and the covenants made there—and provided a touching testimony:
"One of the most sacred parts of temple worship is the sealing or binding of families together forever. The typical marriage covenant is 'til death you part' whereas the temple marriage is for time and all eternity. This requires special priesthood keys or authority such as that given to by the Lord to Peter: "'And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven' (Matthew 16:19). "The religion professors of the world have no idea what these 'keys of authority' are about, but they have been restored in these latter days as promised by Peter as he spoke of the second coming of the Lord: '"Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began' (Acts 3:21). "I am most grateful that my wife, Debbie, and I are bound forever by the 'New and Everlasting Covenant of Marriage' with the promise that our children along with us will be an eternal family forever. I am grateful that the Lord has restored His Church in these latter days along with those priesthood keys and the important temple rites."
