According to the Church’s New Zealand Newsroom page, Primary children from the Mt. Roskill Stake in Auckland have created drawings, letters, and cards expressing love for people in Tonga affected by the volcano eruption on January 14. The messages were included in a shipment of Church humanitarian aid flown to Tonga.
“Dear Tonga I want to pray for you guys,” reads one card written in pink marker and adorned with a sticker of New Zealand’s flag.
Another card, signed by Ethan, reads, “Dear Tonga hope you are allright and safe from the volcano and I am sorry about it.” The card includes a drawing of a smoking volcano.
A card signed by Pedro reads, “We wish we could help you in Tonga. Heavenly Father loves you.”

Sister Lian Whitefield helped the children in her Primary class prepare their messages. “We can’t express all of the feelings in the hearts of the members here in our stake about the wonderful people of Tonga,” she told Newsroom. “We know that the faith of these children and the spirit of the people of Tonga will prevail and we pray that the blessings of our Father in Heaven will be poured out upon them.”
