"Our opportunities to shine are limitless. They surround us each day, in whatever circumstance we find ourselves. As we follow the example of the Savior, ours will be the opportunity to be a light, as it were, in the lives of those around us—whether they be our own family members, our coworkers, mere acquaintances, or total strangers." —President Thomas S. Monson, "Be a Light to the World"
The Church recently released their Christmas video for their new #LIGHTtheWorld initiative, which will help people around the world share the light of the Savior by doing kind acts for others.
“It's the Christmas season,” said Elder David A. Bednar in a recent video. “We have lights—all kinds of lights on our houses, on our trees, on our dining tables. So if we link those wonderful traditions with the source of truth, even Christ as the source of light, it just made great sense to all of us that that would be the theme that we would employ this year.”
Along with a video celebrating the Light of the World, the Church has released an advent calendar with service ideas that help us become more Christlike and has launched a website with additional resources for those who want to participate.
