The Salt Lake Temple renovation has been underway for just over a year, but the temple isn’t the only thing getting an upgrade.
A Tuesday announcement from the Church explained some of the details of what will take place during the renovation of the plaza between the Church Office Building, the Church Administration Building, the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, and the Relief Society Building, as reported by Deseret News.
The project will remove a fountain on the south side of the Church Office Building which has been in place since the 1960s and is a popular spot for photographs. The fountain will be replaced with a circle of flags from around the world.

In a video released by Newsroom, Andy Kirby, the Church’s director of historic temple renovations, said that when the plaza project is completed there will be more views of the temple and it will be an inviting place for people to feel welcome on the grounds.
