Brigham Young University announced Thursday, August 14, that students applying for spring 2021 through winter 2022 will not have to submit their ACT/SAT scores as part of their application for general admission into the university. The decision comes as the result of limited availability of test options due to the COVID-19 pandemic. If a student would like to submit their scores for consideration in their application, they may do so, but the test scores are no longer required. Applications for spring, summer, and fall 2021 will be available beginning August 26.
“BYU Admissions will continue its holistic review as it processes admission applications, considering involvement and accomplishments in and out of the classroom during the high school years,” the university’s release states. “Students who find themselves limited in the activities they can pursue due to the current coronavirus pandemic will not be disadvantaged as a result, nor will students who present pass/fail grades or other similar marks on their transcripts for the semester or terms impacted by COVID-19.”
Individual majors or programs may still require ACT/SAT scores. Learn more at testoptional.byu.edu.
