Being baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is an important day—maybe the most important day of a young child’s life thus far. Here are a few of our favorite easy gift ideas for any remarkable kids you may know who have decided to enter the waters of baptism.

Get Them a Keepsake

You could get them an embroidered towel to use on their special day that will help them remember the day they were baptized, a special baptism journal to write their feelings and memories from their important day, a picture frame where they could keep a memorable (or silly!) photo from their baptism day, or a fun pillowcase that can serve as a special nighttime reminder of the promises made to seek and share heavenly light.

Give Them a Book

Picture books are a great way to teach kids and reinforce important gospel principles, and they can also make for a beautiful and unique baptism gift!

Books on the promises we make at baptism, the who, what, why, when, and how of baptism, the role of the Holy Ghost, and how the Holy Ghost can make us feel can all be helpful reminders (or introductions) of what each of us should know and remember about our own baptism day.

Find a Way to Keep the Scriptures Close (Literally)

A young girl getting baptized might love a floral patterned tote, a shimmery silver carrier, or a fun embroidered rainbow tote. A boy might be into a simple blue-on-blue tote, a sports-themed bag, or a camo scripture carrier. If your loved one is a little bit older, a sophisticated leather backpack might make a great, age-appropriate baptism gift. And if you’re just not in love with any of those options, there are dozens of other fun designs and patterns of scripture tote bags out there!

Give Them a Wearable Reminder

Teach your kids or grandkids getting baptized about the STAR acronym—I serve God and Keep His commandments. I take care of others. I always stand as a witness. I remember Him—with a beautiful reminder bracelet or pin. Or you can help them remember the reasons they chose to be baptized with an “Always Remember” pin or necklace. Or you go with a Latter-day Saint classic—a shiny new CTR ring.

Help the Baptismal Covenants “Stick”

Most kids approaching baptism age would love to decorate their water bottles or fill journal pages with fun stickers—so why not give them something that will remind them of their important and special day? Help them remember faith-promoting messages like, Shine bright and choose the right,” “I am a child of God,” and “It’s great to be 8,” You could also get something to remind them that their life can be as clean as earth right after rain when they are baptized or what exactly the covenant path means.

Find a Meaningful Gift on a Budget

Whether you are buying a gift for all the children in your ward’s CTR 7 class or each of your grandkids, you can find plenty of meaningful and beautiful baptism gifts for any budget!

A small art print for their room, reminding them that they are His child or that they can be a disciple of Christ, could be a heartfelt way to share your testimony. You could also give them a meaningful bookmark to help them remember the covenants they made at baptism, an activity book full of fun (and important gospel truths), or a coloring book with beautiful reminders of God’s love and their personal self-worth.
