After a year of delays due to COVID-19 and 10 years after the temple was originally announced, the open house for the Winnipeg Manitoba Temple will begin on Saturday, October 9. Members of the public are invited to attend the open house, which will run every day through Saturday, October 23, 2021, except Sunday, October 10; Monday, October 11; and Sunday, October 17.
Tours are free, but to ensure compliance with provincial COVID-19 guidelines, masks and social distancing will be required in the building and visitors are encouraged to register in advance at thewinnipegtemple.org.
Elder Gerrit W. Gong of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles will dedicate the temple on Sunday, October 31, 2021.
Currently, the closest temples for the Latter-day Saints in Manitoba are at least a province away in Regina, Saskatchewan, or Bismarck, North Dakota.
“We are thrilled to be able to have a temple closer to home,” Latter-day Saint Yvonne Robison told Newsroom. “In a world that is often chaotic and confusing, the temple is a place of peace and we hope our friends and neighbours will feel that as they visit this beautiful building.”
