When Renu Singh’s mother became ill, Singh started a search for the truth—a search that eventually led her to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
A video from the Church shares Singh’s story. After starting to attend various churches in India, Singh ran into a friend who was waiting to meet with the missionaries. When the missionaries arrived, they invited Singh to join them, but Singh declined the offer because she needed to study for an exam.
Upon returning home, Singh heard a voice saying, “You should go.” So she decided to listen to the voice and brought her little sister to her friend’s house. The elders taught about Joseph Smith, a young man who was also searching for truth.
“My mind, my heart was so calm,” Singh said. “I felt like, ‘This is the right place, like this is it.’”

After attending The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for the first time, Singh had a dream of the elders baptizing her, and she felt it was God telling her what she needed to do. Shortly after her baptism, her mother passed away, but Singh now knows she will see her again.
“I know that I can meet my mom again,” Singh said. “That is the way Heavenly Father was preparing me for that—He was preparing me to find truth.”
