As a returned missionary, there is one thing that is pounded into us more than anything else. That we need to date and get married. But I ran into a problem... As a guy, I don't understand women, and the more I date, the more confused I get.
I talked to the other guys in my YSA Ward, they had the same issue. I reached out to my former mission companions/friends, and they had the same problem. We don't understand women, which makes dating extremely hard.
So I decided in an effort to understand girls better, I would do two things:
First I started to study the words of the prophets and apostles when it comes to dating. (Here are the best14 tips from the brethren I found.)
Second I started asking girls what we as guys can do better. When I asked for advice, I was expecting something that I did not understand. But not only did I understand, I agreed with basically everything I was told. I decided these guidelines were valuable enough that I wanted to share them with you. Here they are.
(Note, because these things are what LDS girls told me, it is written from the perspective of a girl.)
Stick up for me.
A little teasing is ok. But when we are in a group and everyone is teasing me, deep down inside I am praying that you will stand up for me. I am praying that you will tell them to knock it off. I want to know that you care about how I feel. Take away my doubt. Stand up for me. If nothing else it will show me you care.
