This past September, I had an opportunity to visit my mission in New England. While I was there, I attended stake conference where we had Elder Anthony D. Perkins of the Quorum on the Seventy address us.
Elder Perkins talked about happiness, and how we need to find joy in living the Gospel. He then told us that often in his meetings in Salt Lake City, President Uchtdorf expresses concern about the Saints and their happiness. Elder Perkins even said, “If you are not happy living the Gospel, you are not doing it right.” Once I got home I started to study the addresses of President Uchtdorf, looking for the theme of “happiness.”
Here are 15 quotes that I’ve fallen in love with during my studies:
“Our birthright—and the purpose of our great voyage on this earth—is to seek and experience eternal happiness.” ~Dieter F. Uchtdorf
“We shouldn’t wait to be happy until we reach some future point, only to discover that happiness was already available—all the time! Life is not meant to be appreciated only in retrospect. “This is the day which the Lord hath made … ,” the Psalmist wrote. “Rejoice and be glad in it.”” ~Dieter F. Uchtdorf
“Discipleship is the pursuit of holiness and happiness. It is the path to our best and happiest self.” ~Dieter F. Uchtdorf
