It's no secret that Mormons are a peculiar people and that sometimes, people who aren't members of the Church have a hard time understanding us. But never have I been so keenly aware of the understanding gap as when I search for LDS stock photos online.
While there are quite a few lovely photos of temples and copies of the Book of Mormon, check out these 14 pictures and illustrations that show we still have a ways to go when it comes to helping others understand Latter-day Saints.
This Amish-looking guy
His expression is exactly what mine looked like when I found this photo.

A (slightly creepy) vintage doll
No matter where I move, her eyes follow me.
A pioneer dressed all in black
She looks as sad as I feel right now.
This adorably incorrect "missionary"
Married, on a mission, handing out Bibles, and riding a bike?
A school bus
To be fair, for some LDS families, a bus might be the easiest way to get all your kids to Church

This building that is very clearly not an "LDS Church"
But it does lead me to my next overly common find....
Crosses.
Crosses everywhere.
This "Tall Redneck," as he was described
He's apparently Mormon. And "laughing" and "fun." (I don't see any of it.)
Another "Mormon farmer"
Stock photo sites are really trying to convince me that this is a thing.
The unhelpful but expected Mormon butterfly
So pretty!
The Mormon cricket
Also unhelpful but expected, though not as fun to accidentally run across as the Mormon butterfly.
Pictures of Utah national parks
From Bryce Canyon to Zion National Park, apparently nothing says "Mormon" like red rocks.
And my personal favorite, this guy:
Who needs a sign? The fedora says it all.
