It's a well-known fact that there are many great ideas on Pinterest that are cute, helpful, or just plain clever. It's also well-known that Mormons love Pinterest. It enables us to find new recipes to try for family or church events; it helps us to find inspiration; we can use to share the message of the Gospel; and Pinterest provides dozens of thrifty ways to make our homes look pleasant without spending a lot of money. It's also a well-known fact that some of these Pinterest ideas end up looking nothing like their internet counterparts.
It seems so easy: pin to a board, follow the instructions on the site, and voila! Instant-awesome-looking-food-craft-baby-picture! But the adage of “don’t believe everything you see on the internet” has never been truer than with Pinterest. There are entire sites dedicated to collecting the failed attempts to replicate a pin, and given the number of failures, there might be more to Pinterest than meets the eye. Probably Photoshop.
While some of these ideas may seem like a great idea for a family home evening or a mutual activity, you may want to do some research and experimenting before you attempt them with others. Otherwise, they probably might end up with someone in tears.
Or something on fire.
