Church Launches New Easter Campaign

20350

Last year, the Church sponsored a successful Easter initiative simply entitled, "Because of Him." The point of the campaign was to remind people what they were able to do because of Christ's life and his Atonement.

“The response of nonmembers and members [was] overwhelming,“ said Stephen B. Allen, managing director of the Missionary Department. ”We are pleased to have honored and turned focus to the Savior during the Easter holiday.” According to the Church, the anchor video for that campaign got more than 5 million views and generated 2 million visitors to the mormon.org page about Easter.

This Easter season, the Church is again encouraging members and like-minded believers the world over to focus on Christ's Atonement, this time with emphasis on the theme, "Because He Lives."

"Because of His resurrection, we will live again," the official website for the campaign explains. "Because of His sacrifice, we can rise above sin to experience true joy."

If you've read the March 2015 Ensign, you might already know a thing or two about the "Because He Lives" message. In the issue, Elder Russell M. Nelson shared thoughts about the Atonement and Easter, saying, "As we discover, through prayerful and purposeful study, the impact His mission in mortality has on us, the Holy Ghost can teach and testify to us of the Atonement’s eternal significance."

Elder Nelson also specifically asked members "to share the joy of this Easter season," both by watching the "Because He Lives" video at HeLives.mormon.org and by using to hashtag #BecauseHeLives on social media channels.

One specific way to participate in the campaign is to print out a red pin map marker (like on Google Maps) that includes the words, "He Is Here," and take a picture of yourself holding it. In this way, the Church hopes members will show where they find Christ's influence, and they can then share that image and related thought using the hashtag #BecauseHeLives.

Another way for members to participate is to share other media related to the program. Starting today, March 27th, the Church will introduce "a special series of messages centered on the power of the living Christ." Eight shareable picture quotes will also be made available for social sharing, as will several new pass along cards related to the Easter message. (Look for these cards in visitors' centers in the US, the Mexico City Temple, and Hyde Park Chapel in London.)

The Church invites all members to "Join us as we share the good news with the world."
