The connection between goggles and the spirit

If you have ever swum underwater without goggles, you will notice that everything seems blurry. You might observe that something is on the bottom, but you usually can't tell what it is. You may see people, but not the details of their face, or the true color of their swimsuit, or even recognize who they are.
Recently I was swimming laps without goggles, and literally bolted in to the side of the pool, cutting my finger wide open. I couldn't see the wall.
With goggles, you can see everything in amazing detail! You can tell if a coin is a nickel or a quarter. You can see all the colors on a swimsuit, in fact you can see small particles floating in the water.
