Inspirational Messages, formerly known as Mormon Messages, have been produced by the Church for about a decade and cover many topics relating to Church members.
With 169 videos now available, Inspirational Messages contain short and uplifting messages that span from one to 13 minutes and can give a spiritual boost to viewers. The videos vary from happy and uplifting to powerful, touching, and inspiring.
One of the many topics that is included in the videos is that of overcoming adversity, rising above challenges, and having faith in Christ to help us endure to the end of our mortal journey.
As you watch these videos, keep in mind that 1) Christ will not leave us comfortless and 2) He and the Father have glorious blessings in store for those who are righteous and keep their covenants in this life. They can also help us remember that Christ is the real source of peace is in this life. Enjoy!
1. Good Things to Come
Elder Jeffrey R. Holland tells the story of a little family, a young father, and a broken car and testifies that there are better things to come for those who live the gospel of Jesus Christ.
"Some blessings come soon, some come late, and some don't come until heaven," Elder Holland said. "But for those who embrace the Gospel of Jesus Christ, they come."
2. Continue in Patience
Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf tells a story of an experiment which the tested patience in young children and explains how patience requires that we obey God's commandments and faithfully wait for His will to be fulfilled.
"God's promises are not always fulfilled as quickly or in the way we might hope," he said.
3. Mountains to Climb
President Henry B. Eyring gives three examples of how having faith in Jesus Christ will help us have the power to endure and overcome even the hardest trials in life.
"If we have faith in Jesus Christ, the hardest as well as the easiest of times in life can be a blessing," he said.
4. The Refiner's Fire
The refiner’s fire is uncomfortable and involves intense heat and repeated hammering. It is in this fire that we are purified and prepared to meet God. This was the case for Kim Martin when multiple members of her family passed away around the same time.
"I began to think that I might fail, but the Lord was not going to allow me to fail," Martin said. "And I know that's not unique to me. He does that for everybody."
5. Bearing Burdens with Hope
When we face challenges in life, we can take comfort in the truth that such experiences will build our strength and bring us closer to God. Such is the case in this video when a young husband treks out to retrieve firewood and gets stuck in the woods.
In the video, a quote from Elder David A. Bednar speaks about pressing forward during times of trial:
"Is the load I am carrying producing the spiritual traction that will enable me to press forward with faith in Christ on the straight and narrow path?"
6. After the Storm
"After the Storm" tells the story of how Maylene lost the will to live due to trials and heartbreak in her life. But after surviving a tornado, she realized that God would help her and her family survive anything.
A quote from Elder Ronald A. Rasband reassures that Jesus Christ is always there to help us through our trials.
"Though we will face trials, heartaches, and all manner of afflictions, our caring, loving Savior will always be there for us," he said.
7. One-on-One
Friends can be instrumental in helping each other overcome grief. This video, which was shared by Elder Jeffrey R. Holland on his Facebook page in March, shares “how the Christlike love of a friend helped one man overcome overwhelming grief in the wake of the death of his son.”
8. Be Not Troubled
The video "Be Not Troubled" shares a message from Elder Ronald A. Rasband that encourages others to cast out fear in their lives through spirituality and love.
"Trust the Lord and His promises," says Elder Rasband. "I know that all His promises will be fulfilled."
