Just Asking: Mormon Mommy Blogger

What is Mormon Mommy Blogs?

Mormon Mommy Blogs (MMB) functions as two things. First, it is a blog aggregate where you can confidently surf blogs that have been divided out by topic. Currently we have over 3,700 blogs (both LDS and not LDS) listed with us. We also create original content—articles (humorous, parenting, spiritual, review, etc.) along with our brand new printable website, www.mormonmommyprintables.com, that can be used for your home or various church lessons.

How do you balance running MMB, family, church callings, and everything else?

Schedule, schedule, schedule. I live by a routine and schedule (which my family laughs at because it’s a crazy schedule, but it’s my schedule and it works). I get my daily meals done first thing in the morning while I still have energy. I have specific days for my chores, and I insist on my children helping—even the four year old has specific daily chores.

What sort of blog posts do you like most?

I am truly thankful when I am able to read posts from fellow bloggers who are willing to put themselves out there and share the “real” stuff.  I had someone say to me once, “Reading your blog makes me realize you’re as crazy as I am, and it makes me feel like I’m not alone.”  That was a huge compliment to me. I wish with all my heart that as bloggers we could be that soft spot for each other to land. I wish we could all be a shame-free zone for each other, so that we could truly support and mentor one another the way the Savior would have us do.

What plans do you have for MMB in the future?

Currently we are dedicating our time to creating fresh, fun visiting teaching printables that sisters can use when they go visiting teaching. We have our new sister site called MormonMommyPrintables.com that has more printables than a person could know what to do with. We also have some super fun, top secret plans that we are working on to grow the site even more and create a deeper sense of community amongst the members.

What’s your go-to guilty pleasure when you just need a little “me time” to relax?

I have a couple of things that I like to do, depending on the season. I love to be around people, so when I need to relax during the summer, I’ll take my kids to Lagoon, a local amusement park near my home. I know it sounds crazy, but I love to sit in the shade and read a book while my kids run around. I also love to go out to eat with my girlfriends. They make me laugh, and by far, that is my most preferred way to relax.

What’s your best parenting tip?

Pick your battles. Some battles are worth fighting and some are not. Save your energy for the big ones that have eternal consequences.
