Saints can be happy under every circumstance. We can feel joy even while having a bad day, a bad week, or even a bad year! My dear brothers and sisters, the joy we feel has little to do with the circumstances of our lives and everything to do with the focus of our lives.

“For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would” (Galatians 5:17).

Lesson
Prepare two drinks: one made only of water and red food coloring and the other made of red punch.
Begin with a discussion of Satan’s enticements. Explain that he’ll try hard to make his traps look appealing and good. However, true joy and happiness only come from following our Father in Heaven. Anything else is only a counterfeit.
Follow this discussion by serving punch. Instead of punch, serve the drink made with food coloring and water. Your family will notice the lack of flavor. Compare the drink to Satan’s approach. He makes sin look so inviting; but once we partake, we realize it is a counterfeit to joy. Heavenly Father offers us the real thing—true joy. Conclude by serving the real punch.
